In the United States, travel is generally safe, but perhaps a bit expensive for our foreign visitors who are used to good public transportation and hostels in every town. So for those of you that are coming here from other countries, be sure to check out the pages, "Cheap Bus Travel," and "International Youth Hostels." The latter has information on what few hostels there are in this country. The U.S. is the size of a dozen smaller countries, so there is a lot to see and do. That's what this part of the website is about.

Lost On Mount Lemmon is the story of our trip from the snow on the top of Mount Lemmon, down the back of the mountain in our van. The road was treacherous, we spent the night in the desert, and there was something breathing outside the window at 4 a.m. There are also tips on off-road driving.

Traveling Mountain Tundra covers those places in the United States where you can drive and/or hike above the trees. You'll also find the story of a night my wife and I spent at over 9,000 feet in an isolated tundra meadow in Montana.

Cheap Florida Vacations is about inexpensive travel alternatives to trips to Disney and the other expensive destinations. We watched dolphins, collected incredible sea shells, stalked alligators, and camped for free in a campground with hot showers.

Montana Mountains dicusses driving through, hiking and enjoying the mountainous western half of Montana. There is information on the classic small towns of the mountains too, such as Anaconda, where you can get buy a beer and play nickle slot machines in the local laundromat.

RV Boondocking is about parking your recreational vehicle and camping for free. There is general information, but the focus is primarily on Arizona. Quartzite has more than a hundred thousand RVs parked in the desert around it each winter.

Walmart Camping reveals the little-known fact that Walmart and Flying J Truckstops allow you to park your van or RV overnight in their parking lots for free. Not always the most scenic place to camp, but it sure is cheap. There is also information on other free places to camp when you travel the United States.

Lone Pine California covers the town, the Lone Pine Film Festival, Mount Whitney, and more. It is worth it to travel there just for the incredible backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The mysterious Alabama Hills have some of the most unusual rock formations you'll see, and you can walk around where over 200 movies have been filmed.

Michigan Vacations introduces you to the beaches and parks of Michigan. Walk up 400-foot sand dunes, or take a three hour boat tour of the incredible Pictured Rocks. You'll also find information on some of the festivals of Michigan.

Colorado Hot Springs has information on some of the hot springs of Colorado. Our personal favorite is in Ouray, the "Little Switzerland" of the United States. Travel the scenic "Million Dollar Highway," then sit in the hot water, look up at the walls of rock and trees towering above you, and catch the snowflakes on your tounge - now that's the way to spend an afternoon.

Arizona Hot Springs covers some of the hot springs of Arizona. At one of our favorites, you can camp, hike in the desert and soak for hours in one of the two rock-and-cement tubs, for only $3 per day. Or you can get an annual permit for $30, and stay for up to two weeks at a time.

Montana Testicle Festivals is about the festivals around the United States, including the ones that don't involve eating bull testicles. When summer is here, you don't have to travel far to find a festival celebrating trout or cherries or something.

Arrowhead Hunting In Arizona tells the story of our treasure hunt in the desert. An old Mayan Indian we met at the campfire took us into the desert to find arrowheads, ancient pottery, metates, and semi-precious stones. Yes, we actually found all these things, and more.

Florida Alligators has some information on these less-than-friendly animals. You'll also hear the story of how we met a "monster" one morning, and then visited it regularly. Were we stalking the alligator, or was he stalking us?

Glacier National Park Vacations has a great photo and information on one of the most beautiful parks in the world. The Going-To-The-Sun-Road is also one of the most scenic drives in America. There are Grizzly bear safety tips here also.
