Romantic Weekend Getaways
Romantic weekend getaways can mean a second honeymoon or a
first vacation together. You don't always have the time or money
for a long trip, but you can try one of the following ideas this
weekend.
Relax Together
Time at a nice hotel is the most obvious and common romantic
getaway, and with good reason. It's wonderful to be waited on
and to relax in a hot tub together. Find a hotel with a pool,
a hot tub (preferably in the room) and even a lounge where you
can go dancing.
If you live in or near Michigan, this could be the Grand Hotel
on Mackinac Island. This is where they filmed the romantic Christopher
Reed movie, "Somewhere In Time." You'll take the ferry
to get there, and there are no cars, so you'll have see the island
together by horse carriage.
Outdoor Romantic Weekend Getaways
If you enjoy getting outside, consider a camping weekend.
You can really rough it, and put on the backpacks, or just rent
an RV and find a beautiful park to visit. It's a great way to
have some quality time together. Wherever you may live, there
are at least several great outdoor destinations within a couple
hours.
An example is the Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area, near Safford
Arizona. There are two hot spring pools to soak in, and millions
of acres of desert to explore. When my wife and I were there,
we loved collecting beautiful rocks during desert hikes, and
sitting around the fire with fellow campers each night. The hotsprings
were great too.
Doing New Things Together
Isn't it romantic to share new experiences together? Even
if things don't go as planned, you're creating common memories
that bring you closer together. The occasional minor disaster
will be something you laugh about later - a story to tell your
friends. Why not try something new this weekend?
Your new thing could be mountain biking in Moab, Utah. If
you live near Seattle, you might consider a guided climb up Mount
Ranier together, or a hike around the mountain. If you're near
the coasts or the Great Lakes, take a charter sailing or fishing
trip together. Finally, Amtrak has some great scenic routes you
could travel in a weekend.
Can romantic weekend getaways be expensive? Of course, but
the only real requirement is that they are romantic. You can
find a way to get away no matter what your budget is, so why
not start planning now?
